Where we are
We are on the third floor of a building that is less than 100 mt from the intersection with Piazza Duomo and from the Brunelleschi Dome. It is a medieval building reconstructed in 1600 after the plague of Florence, via dell' Oriuolo already via Buia.
It took the present name becuase in a house in this street Niccolò di Bernardo da San Friano built in 1353 the clock for the tower of the Palazzo della SIGNORIA.This watch was the first to be made in Florence.
We are in front of the Bank of Italy and on the corner with via Folco Portinari who founded the Santa Maria Hospital in the premises of the ancient Oblate Convent – now City Library – subsequently moved to the adjacent Santa Maria Nova Square and still one of the most important hospital in Florence.
